Honoring the recipient of the 2017 Saint Paul Business Awards for the Large Business Excellence category to recognize a business with at least 50 employees in Saint Paul that cares for its employees and the community.

Whereas, the City of Saint Paul has a prosperous, engaged and thriving business community that is one of our city’s most valuable resources; and
Whereas, Saint Paul businesses provide jobs and services to residents and a solid foundation for our city’s growth and prosperity; and
Whereas, these companies deserve not only the city’s support but recognition for their many contributions to our community; and
Whereas, as part of the city’s efforts to recognize the outstanding businesses that call Saint Paul home, the City initiated the Saint Paul Business Awards to honor local businesses that provide critical services, contribute to our community, invest in their employees and are committed to our values of equity and diversity; and
Whereas, Securian Financial Group, headquartered in Saint Paul since 1880 and currently employing more than 2,500 associates in the city, has provided financial security for individuals and businesses in the form of insurance, investments and retirement plans, and is now one of the nation’s largest financial services providers; and
Whereas, Securian Financial Group demonstrates their commitment as an employer and community member through their corporate culture, philanthropy and volunteerism, as evidenced by recognition as a great place to work on both a regional and national level, employee retention rates as high as 94%, employees dedication of more than 5000 hours of community service and volunteerism and various other community outreach programs through which millions have been given back.
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Saint Paul City Council, that we do hereby grant the 2017 Saint Paul Business Award in the Large Business Excellence category to Securian Financial Group
